Located 550kms from both Sydney & Melbourne, a five and a half drive from Sydney CBD, two and half hours from Canberra and six hours from Melbourne CBD, The Denman is situated in the centre of Thredbo Village in the Snowy Mountain’s Kosciuszko National Park, on the Alpine Way between Jindabyne and Khancoban.
Please be aware that during the winter season (early June until the end of September) all two wheel drive cars are required to carry chains, they can be hired in Jindabyne and Khancoban. Also if you intend hiring a car to drive to Thredb be aware that some rental companies do not allow their cars above the snowline in winter.
All visitors to the National Park must pay an entrance fee depending on the length of stay. Parking is FREE inside the Park. There is a collection gate between Jindabyne and Thredbo (but not between Khancoban and Thredbo) but hours of operation differ on a daily & seasonal basis. Tickets can also be purchased in Thredbo at the Newsagency in the Village Square. Coach passenger tickets include the National Park entrance fees.
driving from sydney or canberra
Follow the signs past Jindabyne, turning left onto the Alpine Way and up through the picturesque Thredbo Valley for approximately 32 kms. Do not take the first right turn into Thredbo Village but continue along the Alpine Way and take the next sharp right turn down into Banjo Drive then bear left at the hairpin bend into Diggings Terrace. The Denman is at the bottom on the left. Simply drive up to Reception.
driving from melbourne
Exit the freeway to Wodonga then to Corryong through the stunning Corryong Valley, then Thredbo via Khancoban. The last 75 kms from Khancoban is winding road but with stunning mountain views. Take the first left turn into Thredbo Village down Banjo Drive then bear left at the hairpin bend into Diggings Terrace. The Denman is at the bottom on the left. Simply drive up to Reception.
flying to canberra with connection to thredbo
Canberra is serviced by QANTAS and Virgin Blue from around Australia. Greyhound Coaches run from Canberra Airport to Thredbo on a regular basis. The Denman’s Guest Service car will pick you up and return to you to the bus on departure. Contact The Denman for more information.
flying to cooma with connection to thredbo
Flights from Sydney are available with REX. Alpine Express coaches meet each flight and bring Thredbo passengers to the door of The Denman. A similar service operates when returning to the airport.
